Dr. Lauren

Dr. Lauren Pettijohn is a dedicated pediatric chiropractor whose journey into chiropractic care began at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, following her graduation from Cleveland State University in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and a minor in Psychology. It was during her time at Palmer College that Dr. Lauren discovered her passion for pediatric and prenatal chiropractic care. She pursued additional seminars and coursework in these specialized areas, deepening her expertise and commitment to providing holistic care for infants, children and expectant mothers. She has a unique passion for patients struggling with focus, attention, and behavior struggles-- as adjustments help calm the brain. Dr. Lauren currently resides in Woodbury, MN, with her husband Brad and their beloved cat, Meow. Outside of her practice, she enjoys cooking, spending quality time with her family, indulging in podcasts, and exploring the outdoors.

Dr. Jen

Dr. Jen Krohn-Shupe, named Chiropractor of the Year in Wisconsin in 2021, has been serving the St. Croix Valley for almost 20 years. She was an athlete growing up and originally focused on that population, however after she noticed the profound difference chiropractic can make on families when adjusting pregnant moms and infants; she has a passion for serving that population as well. She's adjusted numerous moms during the labor process to help reduce stress on mom and improve birth outcomes for moms and babies. Her goal is to reduce stress on families through influencing their nervous systems allowing the family to function better, feel better and thrive. She resides in Hudson with her husband, Brad and 3 boys, Blake, Liam and Garrett.

Dr. Mallory

Dr. Mallory has been serving patients for ten years! Throughout her career she has provided care to patients of all ages but found she is most passionate about providing exceptional care to kiddos, pregnant women and families. It’s her mission to create solid foundations for health in kids, empower moms in pregnancy and birth as well as motherhood which in turn creates healthier, happier families. She has additional training in functional nutrition therapy and brain based trauma recovery to enhance the health of her patients. Dr. Mallory made the jump over the border from Minnesota two years ago and currently resides in Amery, WI with her husband (Nic), three kiddos, (Jax, Sloane and Violet) two dogs (Kimber and Remi) and six chickens :) Outside of the office, Dr. Mallory enjoys spending time outdoors with her family tending to their small homestead, cooking and baking gluten free treats, and watching sports.

Chiropractic Care

There is an innate intelligence within every living being that is absolutely incomprehensible. At conception, one cell is sparked to life and begins to divide, becoming over 40 trillion cells and creating an entire human being in just nine months. That inner light and potential did not abandon you at birth; it remains within you and is the very essence of life.

45 miles of nerves connect every cell, tissue, and organ with the energy flowing within us. This neuro-spinal system integrates, and when over-stressed, stores our experiences; physically, chemically, and emotionally. When stress is stored in the neuro-spinal system, communication becomes less efficient. We believe, that because the language of the innate intelligence is symptomatic in nature, true Health cannot be defined as simply an absence of symptoms.

Maintenance
The chiropractic adjustment can help you begin to release what is stored within your body and naturally enhance your ability to respond to symptoms; not just suppress them.
When we have balance in our lives, the body is able to self-regulate and heal; creating the expression of health.

Chiropractic can help you unlock your innate potential to live a more abundant life, regardless of what you are experiencing right now. You are Pure Potential.

Chiropractic and Kids
Children innately and naturally express health and joy. They grow, heal, and change at a rapid rate. In childhood, we develop the foundation for the rest of our lives physically, chemically, and emotionally.
A true state of optimal health and wellness in any person, including children, is more than the absence of disease or symptoms. A state of “wholeness” and well-being is expressed when we are functioning, performing, integrating, and responding optimally.

Beginning with the conventional, western birth process, children are exposed to a tremendous amount of stress and experience from very early on. Learning to crawl, walk, and run, they encounter countless falls and bumps and the neuro-spinal system adapts and stores each one. When the body’s ability to integrate experience in any given moment is exceeded, the stress is stored in the neuro-spinal system, and optimal function and expression is inhibited.

Give your child the best start possible, beyond symptom and disease care… bring them to HEALTHcare.

Chiropractic and Birth
A study by the American Medical Association found that women who received regular chiropractic care during their 3rd trimester, carried and delivered with more comfort.

Another study concluded that with regular chiropractic adjustments mothers decreased the need for analgesics by half during their delivery. It also revealed that new mothers who were adjusted regularly had a 24% reduction in labor time.

Dr. Jen & Dr. Lauren can assist your family with a gentle and honoring birth regardless of how and where you are planning birth.

Chiropractic and Pregnancy
Pregnant women experience changes in their bodies on a daily basis, from the moment of conception, physically, chemically, and emotionally. Gentle and specific chiropractic adjustments make it easier to integrate this new experience with efficiency and ease, so you can focus on and enjoy the wonder of this magnificent time.

We have also had a number of babies that were conceived by parents who were struggling with fertility before beginning regular chiropractic care.

Whether you are trying to conceive, or are already pregnant, having a neuro-spinal system working the best it can creates the optimal environment for a healthy, comfortable pregnancy.

Insight Scans

How is your nervous system functioning?

HRV

The Pulse Wave Profiler helps the doctor to determine your overall ability to adapt to the environment. It does this by looking at the timing of your pulse, and determining the balance and tension within your nervous system. This exam is known as heart rate variability. Stressful lifestyles habits including poor dietary choices, limited exercise and constant emotional aggravation can cause the body to be caught in the “fight-flight” response. This can lead to exhaustion and a draining of a person’s reserves. A score within the green box on the graph is associated with better adaptability and relates to a healthy lifestyle. Low heart rate variability is associated with accelerated aging and poor heart health. Published research has shown that chiropractic adjustments have a beneficial effect on heart rate variability.

sEMG

The Surface EMG exam evaluates the function of the muscles that support and move your spine. These muscles are controlled by the nerves running within it. This test measures how much energy is needed to maintain your posture and how it is distributed throughout the muscles. If too much energy is used when a spine is out of balance, this test score will be lower than normal. Over time, daily stress can continue to overwork these muscles, causing them to lose their support and mobility. This will also lower the score. Muscle fatigue and poor energy distribution are signs of a person’s entire health being under stress. By precisely measuring muscle activity, your progress can be followed as your spine releases tension and you regain more control.

Thermal

The Thermal Scan is used to assess the part of your nervous system that helps to control your organs, glands, and blood vessels. The autonomic nervous system works alongside the spinal nerves to regulate your immunity while managing your internal organ functions. The instrument does this by precisely measuring differences in temperature along the spine.Temperature is an accurate indicator as to where stress is building up and how deeply it affects bodily functions. Each organ system relies on clear and balanced nerve signals to work efficiently. Nerve interference that is detected by this sensor is valuable in understanding and planning health and wellness strategies.

At 4 months postpartum both me and my son started at Croixview. My son had pretty severe torticollis as well as a flat head and lots of tension throughout his whole body. He was constantly uncomfortable and fussy. Through their chiropratic care, combined with craniosacral therapy, we’ve noticed a huge improvement. He’s now able to turn his head both ways comfortably, his head is becoming less flat (no need for a helmet, yay!) and overall he’s much more relaxed and happy. I have also personally enjoyed my chiro adjustments. As a breastfeeding mom I have lots of back/neck tension and my weekly visits help ease the tension and reduce my headaches. The staff has been amazing- everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Overall we’ve had a great experience at Croixview and highly recommend them!
