Self-Care is a phrase that has become more popular recently, as people are realizing the importance of taking care of ourselves. Self-Care isn’t just about taking care of our physical selves, it’s about filling ourselves back up mentally and emotionally as well. When you hear the phrase “self-care”, you may think of doing a face mask, getting a massage, or spending the day relaxing on your day off. While these are great examples, there’s so many other ways to practice self-care. Let’s go through some more examples of self-care you’re sure to love:

  • Reward yourself for completing small tasks
  • Intentionally schedule “me time” on your calendar or planner
  • Listen to a podcast about a topic that interests you
  • Unplug from email and social media for an hour, or longer if able!
  • Learn 4-8-7 breathing
  • Do one thing today just because it makes you happy
  • Try coloring in an adult coloring book
  • Unfollow or mute toxic “friends” or pages in your social media feeds
  • Go for a walk
  • Attend a yoga or fitness class
  • Spend some time in nature, even if it’s sitting in the sun for 10 minutes
  • Try acupuncture
  • Practice deep breathing exercises
  • Listen to a guided meditation 
  • Give yourself a long bubble bath (try adding epsom salts!)
  • Buy some flowers that make you smile
  • Go on a two-day holiday for the weekend 
  • Put a relaxing blend of essential oils in your diffuser for aromatherapy
  • Wear a dress or outfit that makes you feel great
  • Listen to a playlist of your favorite songs
  • Schedule a regular date night with your significant other (or best friend!)
  • Volunteer at your local pet shelter, hospital or nursing home
